Foster Home Responsibilities
As a foster home we ask that you care and love your foster dog just as your own. The joy of being a foster is that you don't have the lifelong commitment of caring for a pet. Your responsibility ends once your foster is adopted and until you take on another foster! The time frame of a foster home varies greatly. Your foster dog could be adopted within a couple of weeks or a couple of months. Foster homes need to be available on some weekends to attend adoption events and also be available to show your foster dog to prospective adopters. Foster homes should also continue working on basic training and leash manners to ensure their foster dog is well behaved and ready to be adopted. If feasible, we ask that you purchase quality food for your foster dog, we can tell you what they are currently eating. If it is not feasible to purchase food, It's The Pits will provide food.
How does It's The Pits support their fosters?
It's The Pits can provide everything a foster home needs in order to bring in a dog: food, bowls, bones, bedding and crate. We always ask that your foster dog be crated while you are not able to keep on eye on them until you trust them around your home. It's The Pits is always available if you have any questions or concerns. If need be, It's The Pits has trainers to work with you and your foster dog. We work with our foster homes to cover vacations with advance notice.
