Description:

Name - Kora

Age -Adult

Weight - approx 60 lbs.

Medical - Kora is on Fluoxetine. This is a daily medication to help with anxiety

Other dogs -  Kora is dog selective and can be dog reactive on walks. She has previously lived with other dogs and would require a home with very easy going dogs who would co-exist with her. She needs slow intros or would be best as an only dog

Cats - No. She does have a high prey drive

Kids - Kora's previous family had children and they said she was good with them. She has not recently been around children

Background - Kora originally came to us in 2013 when she was rescued from by a Good Samaritan from an awful situation where she was kept on a heavy chain in someone's garage. We adopted her out to what we thought was a good family. Unfortunately they dumped her just a few short years later. We adopted her out again in 2016 to what we thought was her Forever Family. Unbeknownst to us, they gave her away to yet ANOTHER family. Supposedly that family loved her dearly but was forced to surrender her to our local shelter when they had to move and could not take her with. Thankfully her chip is still registered to ITP and the shelter called us to let us know she was there

Crate trained - Kora is used to sleeping and eating in the crate

Leash trained - She can be leash reactive to other dogs (pulls and barks). Her Foster Family has started walking her with a backpack and this has helped her have better leash manners, although she still needs some work in this department

Housebroken - Perfectly house trained and will use the doggy door

Eating Habits - Eats normally, not a picky eater

Commands known - Kora knows sit, down ,stay, bed, crate, leave it, wait, gives her paw and knows her name. She is a very smart girl

Car rides - She is used to being crated while in her Foster Family's minivan

Bath time - Loves to go in the shower with warm water. She loves being pampered!

Affectionate - Kora is pretty independent. She is not overly affectionate. She is happy to sit near you or rest in the same room as you

Activity level - Moderate activity for her age. Foster Family walks her about 30 minutes a day with the backpack on and this seems to be plenty of exercise for her

Play style - Occasionally she might chase the ball or tug rope but she is not really into toys

Bad habits - Her worst habit is the reactivity to other dogs while on leash. Foster Family has been working with our behaviorist to correct this behavior. Being on the Fluoxetine has also helped calm her and her being able to relax has helped

Redeeming qualities - She is so calm and quiet for the most part and she has the best manners! She does not jump on you, she takes treats softly, she knows her commands and we really appreciate her independent nature

Best feature - Her cute soft ears!

What Foster Mom/Dad wants you to know -
"It breaks our heart that Kora has been let down and abandoned by her people so many times. We can't blame her for having anxiety now - she has been bounced around from family to family for all of her life! We are working on providing a relaxing environment for her to help with her insecurities. She really is such a good girl - very smart and sweet. The medication, along with daily exercise, really seem to be helping her relax. We hope a patient family will fall in love with Kora and promise to never abandon her again! She deserves her Happily Ever After once and for all."
