Name  - Bucky

Nicknames  - Buddy, Buckaroo

Age  - 3

Weight  - 60lb

Medical   – Previously injured rear leg was left to heal on its own. Bent tail.

Other dogs  - curious on dog walks, responds positively to calmer dogs. Would do best as the only dog in the home.

Cats  - haven’t tested

Kids  - does well with kids, sometimes he doesn’t know his own size so would be careful around little ones. Should only live with kids 15 and older.

Housing  - currently living in a two story condo. Gets random bursts of energy, but they don’t last long. Would be content with or without a yard.

Background  -

Crate trained  - Loves naps and sleeping in his crate at night. The door to his crate is always open during the day and I’ll often find him napping in it. He knows when it’s bedtime and will easily go to his crate at night.

Leash trained  - Does very well on a leash during walks 95% of the time. He randomly gets spunky and will try to walk himself by taking the leash in his mouth.

Housebroken  - Yes. Fully housebroken.

Eating Habits  - Gets excited for feeding time, especially if you cue him to get his food. He prances around and tap dances while waiting and between bites.

Commands known  - “sit”, “lay down”, “let’s go!”

Car rides  - he loves car rides. Very comfortable in his travel crate. Even enjoys napping on road trips.

Bath time  - he doesn’t seem bothered by bath time, but loves rolling around in towels afterwards.

Affectionate  - Bucky’s love language is definitely physical touch. He loves being near his humans, even if it’s just a foot touching him.

Activity level  - Zero to 100. Loves napping the majority of the day, but at least once a day he gets his zoomies - he’ll tuck his tail and run around the entire house. Has been on 3-4 mile walks and hikes and is able to hang in just fine. He doesn’t need his naps throughout the day, but by the end of the day he’ll be ready to pass out. His sweet little eyes get red when he’s tired.

Play style  - his favorite toy is his indestructible Kong ball, although he is very bad at catching the ball and chasing it. Allows you to take his toys away him. Still working on the command “drop”.

Bad habits  - loves to steal shoes, especially fuzzy slippers. Never chews on them, but it seems like he steals them to grab your attention. Also, he can get very excited and not realize his size or strength and he’ll nibble with his front teeth in between licks.

Redeeming qualities  - Bucky is such a sweet dog. He just wants to be everyone’s shadow and is scared he’ll miss out on something important. Loves sitting next to his humans and getting petted. Has the cutest grunts and snores.

Best feature  - He is the prettiest brindle I have ever seen. He gets compliments on his coat daily. He also has the sweetest eyes- they make everyone melt. He has a sly army crawl to say “hi” if someone is near him and talks to him.

What Foster Mom/Dad wants you to know  - Bucky came to us after being kenneled 10 days and was very timid and nervous at first. He has completely come out of his shell and just wants to trust and be near his humans. He is such a sweet dog. He sometimes doesn’t realize his own strength while playing, so he still needs to be reminded. He does very well with verbal cues as long as it’s not during his zoomies- there is no stopping him once he gets them (although they only last a few minutes). It was obvious within a few days of having him he just needed structure and stability to gain trust again.
