Favorite Animals and Breeds!
Weight: 65-70 pounds
Medical: Recovered from repaired fractured leg
Other Dogs: Gets very excited to see other dogs! Never barks or growls, excited to see them.
Cats: Has observed our cat from a distance and has not shown much interest
Housing: Kobe would love a yard with some room to run
Background: Kobe came to ITP after surgery on 12/17/20 to repair his fractured tibia and he is doing fantastic.
Crate Trained: He is excellent in his crate, and sleeps in it every night.
Leash Trained: Kobe is learning to control his excitement on walks, and is taking well to correction. He has the normal puppy energy and excitement.
House Trained: Kobe never has an accident in his crate. When he was on constant crate rest he only had short (30 minute) supervised play times. Be proactive to take him out now that he has recovered from the surgery.
Eating Habits: Kobe is a good eater and food motivated. He is on Chicken Soup for the Soul large breed puppy dry food. 2 cups am and pm, with a little Kirkland Chicken & Rice wet food stirred in.
Commands Known: Sit, Come. Has nice dinner manners and will sit to wait for his bowl to be set before him.
Car Rides: Loves the car!
Bath Time: unknown, will be updating soon!
Affectionate: Kobe is loving and gives kisses. He is not a snuggler yet, I don’t believe he has been exposed to snuggles but will learn to love them. He is a very happy puppy, and wants to please.
Play Style: Kobe wants to be rough and tumble but has not been allowed yet in his recovery. He LOVES balls, I know he will be great at fetch when allowed. He is a little mouthy - still a puppy, we are working on correcting that.
Bad Habits: Kobe is so young he doesn’t really have any bad habits, he is just a very energetic puppy that needs training and boundaries set. Being on crate rest has been a set back for training. A little mouthy during play.
Redeeming Qualities: Truly a sweetheart, very happy boy ready to please and be your new best friend.
Best Features: Kobe is a stunner! Absolutely gorgeous brindle coat, and I am obsessed with his huge velvet floppy ears. They are so much fun and have a personality all their own! He is going to be a handsome big boy.
What Foster Mom/Dad want you to know: Kobe is going to be a fantastic dog. He really is the whole package. He is going to need someone strong and willing to put in the time to work with him. He’s big, but really is still very much a puppy. So much crate rest at this early age has really put a kink in his learning curve, however he takes correction well and is very treat and toy motivated. He is a little shy, and a bit skittish with new people and surroundings, but warms up with positive slow introductions. He is a big observer - likes to pause on our walks and look out into the distance and take it all in. He is curious in a good way. We feel that once he is able to be out and more social, that all his dog skills will catch up quickly. We have really enjoyed being his foster parents
