Name - Stella
Nicknames – Stella Bella, or Stella McBella
Age – 2 years old
Weight – 65 lbs
Medical – Salmon dog food
Other dogs – Can be an only dog or live with mellow/co-existing male, unknown small dogs
Cats - Unknown
Kids – Ok with older children
Housing – Best in a home (not condo/townhome) but does not need large yard
Background – Pulled from shelter as pregnant mama. Stella was rushed to ER for c-section and had 6 gorgeous puppies. Still working on her post-maternity figure.
Crate trained - Yes
Leash trained – Yes but needs work.
Housebroken – Yes, but she will have accidents if not let out frequently enough.
Eating Habits – Yes please! Very food motivated, needs slow feeder
Commands known – Sit, learning Wait
Car rides – Does well in the car but needs a lift in
Bath time – Does NOT like water but will endure baths, the good news is a spray bottle works very well as correction/deterrent since she hates water so much
Affectionate – Likes to give kisses and cuddle, just wants to be near her human(s)
Activity level – couch potato, will go outside to potty but then wants to come right back in. She’s a cute little tank, short and squat, so short walks are good, she cannot do long walks or hikes.
Play style – occasionally has a playful spurt but usually short lived, prefers a good butt scratch! She will play with a toy for a bit, or chew a bone for a longer while.
Bad habits – over exuberance – she may jump or bark when excited. She also likes to snorkel in her water bowl (puts her whole face in to drink) so you’ll need a towel! Will talk vocally (barking) when she wants something (food, attention).
Redeeming qualities – she is sweet and quirky and she enjoys being near you, she is a mellow love bug who wants to shower you with big, wet kisses. When she does make a mistake, she is generally very responsive to corrections.
Best feature – her cute little ears
What Foster Mom/Dad wants you to know – Stella is the biggest goof ball, she’s a little odd, but in the cutest ways! Her eyes are droopy so sometimes its looks like she’s giving you a dirty look, and sometimes she actually does have a little sass, but its only that, good-natured sass! She will also talk back quite often, she’s a vocal little girl (who also snores). Stella’s pretty easy and low energy, and while green (came to us with zero training/experience), she has a lot of potential and has grown since finishing her job as a mama, which she was fantastic at! With some continuing guidance, we think she will be a really nice all around dog. She’s good with other dogs who are not “in her face”, but does not like high energy or forward dogs. She’s not a match for an athletic family, but she’s a great match for someone who is home more often than not and isn’t extremely active – while she’s open to new things and activities, her short legs and short nose prevent her from being an athlete. If you’re looking for a loving BFF to hang out with who will certainly keep you laughing with all her weirdness, Stella is for you!
