Nicknames - Cim, Cimmy, Chimichanga, Chimmy, Bub, Bubba

Age - adult

Weight - 70lbs

Other dogs – Can be reactive to new dogs but could live with another dog if given the opportunity for a very slow introduction (We introduced Cim to our puppy over a span of 3 days with the puppy staying in a dog playpen so they could sniff without physical contact).

Cats - is cat reactive and would not be the best for a cat home

Kids - Would do best with older kids

Background – Rescued from the streets in LA by Hope for Paws, and then transferred to us for adoption

Crate trained - high anxiety while in the crate but is working and making improvements in this area. Does not ruin toys or bed in his crate but does cry and bark.

Leash trained - walks pretty well on a slip leash or martingale with minor corrections. Prefers to walk on the grass vs sidewalk so some slight pulling towards the softer ground. Will sometimes freeze/crouch when he sees another dog while walking.

Housebroken - Fully house trained

Eating habits - Loves to eat! Has not shown any food sensitivities. Loves vegetables for snacks!

Commands known - sit, shake, and come

Car rides - perfect passenger!

Bath time - does not enjoy bath time but is very tolerant. Needs assistance getting in and out of the tub.

Affectionate - doesn’t give a lot of kisses. More the type to lay next to you vs on you. Loves a good belly rub

Activity level - low energy with arthritis in his shoulders so he would do better with a yard to sunbathe and go potty without needing to go for a walk each time. Will need a home without stairs.

Play style - not much of a player. Will sometimes chew on a bone though it is short lived. Needs to be watched with a very careful eye as he will chew & break through almost all toys very quickly!

Bad habits - is dog reactive, especially on leash. He has made progress in this department but will require a strong dedicated handler if owner wants to take him out on walks. Has separation anxiety and has been known to attempt to chew items within reach while his mom takes the other dog out for a walk.

Redeeming qualities - the sweetest boy! Loves to cuddle and just wants to be with his people. He is extremely patient with puppies once he is familiar and is excellent with other dogs that he is familiar with (this takes time!!)

Cimmy is such a goofy, sweet and easy going boy. He absolutely loves his people and he’s amazing with my 10 month old puppy. I know the dog reactivity can be a huge turn off to potential adopters but I wish people would just give him a chance! He’s the perfect house/yard dog and would love to keep someone company while they work from home. He doesn't ask for much, just some snuggles and snacks! We live in a condo so all our potty breaks require a walk, so walking him is definitely not impossible! He just needs someone who is proactive and crosses the street away from other dogs and redirects his attention before he has a chance to become anxious and go into fight or flight mode. He is such an amazing boy and just needs someone willing to see how great he is and to give him a chance.
