Foster Parents Needed!

It's The Pits is in immediate need of foster parents for both adult dogs and puppies. We will not be able to pull any additional dogs from shelters unless we can identify suitable temporary homes for them in advance. Fostering a dog is easy and very rewarding! We can find a dog to match your lifestyle (and children/other pets). If you are able to serve as a foster parent, please contact us.

Happy Stories

I want to thank you all (Beth, Stephanie, Suzanne, Jeff, etc.) for taking care of me and loving me through rough times. The NEW home you provided me with is working out great. I have been welcomed into my new family with loads of affection and smiles. I have been very active and busy in my travels, so much so, that I'm pooped come evening time.

My big Mommy says I'm not only a positive ambassador for my breed, but for "It's The Pits" too. When people pass me they comment and say that I'm handsome and well mannered. When she tells them about how you rescued me, they instantly stop and want to be my friend and know all about me. Big Mommy says guys think I'm cool and chicks dig me.

I have attached some pictures of my new life along with our picture together the other day.

Much love,

Wyatt (aka, Teddy)

Enzo (previously Chuck) is the cutest little guy and we are glad It’s the Pit’s Pit Bull Rescue located in San Diego rescued him. We are so happy to add Enzo into our lives and love watching him grow. Enzo is about 9 weeks now and 14.5 lbs- big boy! When people see him he brings a smile to their face. He loves to play outside in the backyard and lay under the patio set in the shade. We are so glad he is part of our family. We love our puppy! Monique & Robert

Baxter's been with us since February now, and is nine months old. He's an amazing doggy and is so very sweet and playful with the children (even the three year old that is always laying on top of him). I've included a photo of him and his baby sis Lola, a 5 month old Chihuahua. She's the boss let there be no mistake. He plays with her and is incredibly gentle with her. They share a bed even though Lola has her own, she much prefers to sleep curled up with Baxter. Thank you It's the pits for helping bring this awesome dog into our lives.

The Buntins

Casey

Casey & Timmy (now Jordan)

In 1993 I rescued my first puppy from a shelter in Md.  Her name was Cori and she was with my boys and I for the next 16 years! She was a wonderful MIXED PIT!  I had to have  our wonderful family member put to sleep this past Jan.  She was old and getting sick.  I had been looking for another dog in anticipation of losing my "girlfriend"  for the last year of her life.  I didn't find the right one until the same time frame that I had to make the agonizing decision to let go of my first girl go.  I believe Cori brought my new companion into my life.  I picked her up from a foster home and the next day I received Cori's remains!

Casey is a beautiful mix.  Her name was Gelsey when she was in the care of Its The Pits rescue.  She is a joy.  Nice and healthy and growing big very quickly!  She is very smart and learned basic commands almost immediately.  She now lives with an adult male Chiquaqua named Billy.  Billy has helped her learn how to walk on a leash and play without being too rough.  I noticed this morning that the beautiful white mask around her face resembles Cori.  Cori had progressively gotten white around her snout with age.  Casey is a beautiful reminder of my girl who I know brought Casey into my life right when I needed her! I am very thankful for Its The Pits Rescue.  I look forward to training her further and having her company for years to come.  Thank you for the work you do!  We are a very happy family with our new addition!

Sincerely, Ellen Raneri

Cooper

Cooper came into our lives on January 30th, 2009. We are happy that he could bring so much joy not only to us but everyone who sees him for the first time. It’s sad to say that there are so many people in the world that shiver at the mere thought of “pit bull.” He has not only made a difference in our lives but he has only just begun to educate others that pit bull breeds are one of the most loving, and loyal breeds. We give thanks each day to his beautiful mommy for having him and also to It’s the Pits for saving Georgia and her ten puppies. If not for the loving people who spend their days at It’s the Pits Georgia, Cooper and his nine other brothers and sisters would have been euthanized. Thank you for bringing him into our lives and making us so very happy.
Best Wishes,
Ryan, Melissa & Cooper

Sophie

Just dropping you a note to let you know how thrilled we are after adopting the deaf puppy named Sophie (now Shellby).  She is learning hand signals, walking on a leash, running and playing with her big brother Floyd (Bull Terrrier) and seems to be a very happy little girl.  She has gained 2 1/2 pounds in the 2 weeks she has been with us.  We are just thrilled to pieces that she and Floyd are now inseparable.  If she cries, he has to go see if she is alright and she is giving him the terrific companionship he so desperately needed after our 20 year old dog passed away 5 weeks ago.  Floyd is teaching her to go outside with him when he has to go. The two of them are quite comical and are very intertaining to us as well.  We couldn't be happier and are extremely glad everything is working out so well.  Thank you for everything and we will try to keep you updated with her progress alth;ough we can't see how things could get much better.  Thanks you again, Rob and Bobbi

Gracie

In March 2009, we brought Gracie into our family as a friend for our 7 month old boxer, Diesel.  He had been so lonely, bored, (and destructive!) by himself that we knew a friend would be the best situation for us all.  The minute Gracie came home to us; it was the answer to all of our prayers.  Diesel was so in love and so gently to Gracie that it was the perfect mix.  Gracie loves to run and play with Diesel all day; and sleep together at night.  Gracie is such a beautiful addition to our family ~ she loves our 3 kids and is great with our cats too!  We love Gracie and are so happy that we brought her into our family.

Xavier

Mick (formerly Xavier) and Roxy!

Chica

Nani - formerly Chica, was slated to be euthanized at the North County Animal Shelter.  Her legs were bowed from being kenneled 24 hours a day, she had a belly button hernia & kennel cough.  Your wonderful foster home saved her & gave a very good start to training.  When she came to us she was kennel trained, leash trained & mostly potty trained!

Our puppy loves our two daughters!  They are 7 & 9 years old.  Even though she has only been with us for a few months she is already attached to them & wants to play with them all the time.  She loves to go to the dog park & run around.  She is super gentle with all the dogs & is very vocal when playing with them.

Thanks again, we love our puppy!

Dolly aka Kali

My fiance and I adopted Dolly (formerly Kali) originally with her sister Harley, who unfortunatly did not work out with our cats. Anyway, I just want to tell you how much joy Dolly has brought us. She is the most gentle, loving, hysterical dog I have ever met, and we love her more than anything. She has come out of her shell so much in the few months we've had her and literally makes every person she meets fall in love with her. I just want to thank you so much for what you do...you are really changing the lives for these dogs who would otherwise have nothing. I've attached a couple of pictures for you to see! She's getting so big! She was around 35lbs when we got her and now she is around 55lbs!

Porter

I adopted Porter (previously Romeo) when he was just 8 weeks old. I had previously been to visit him and his brothers when they were only 5 weeks old and still with their mom. I saw the white and red nosed pup and instantly fell in love. We were initially told he was possibly a lab/pit mix, which was perfect for us since I already had a black lab/pit mix which I had rescued earlier. Imagine my surprise when I came back to pick him up three weeks later and he was only 4 pounds. He is now 9 months old and weighs in at a hefty 25 pounds. Haha. He is a little guy with a big personality and loves every single person he meets. His unique look keeps everyone guessing what mix he is. But I love the guy, and every day I am thankful he is part of my family.
