Nico is was picked up by a humane officer running at large in a residential area of Escondido. Shortly after passing a behavioral assessment we discovered he was deaf. The discovery of his hearing ailment was not at all a surprise to any of us, only a deaf dog could sleep so soundly in a noisy environment. While Nico is deaf, he has no special needs.

Nico has already showed vast improvement in his interactions, and he is now becoming familiar with the hand signals for sit and down and is always looking looking up at us for direction. His personality is beginning to blossom and he is quite the comedian. He loves to pick up his tennis ball, throw it and then get down on his belly, army crawl to it then pounce. Nico loves people, and especially children! He's very sweet and gets along with other dogs who want to play with him. He's not very large, so he could even meet most apartment weight restrictions.
